Lucky Day Ranch News!

The more things change the more they stay the same... isn't there a saying that goes like that? 

Well around here the ground has hardened, the cracks have opened, the bees are buzzing and the heat is on!  Welcome to Summertime in Vacaville, California.  And although the kids are another year older and taller ... gas prices have increased to an all time high ... and politics are, well, politics ... things continue to remain pretty much the same here at Lucky Day Ranch!

Our happy band of five equines graze contently on the remnants of what was, not long ago, a lush Springtime pasture.  They groom eachother, nap in the warm afternoon sunshine, and occasionally engage in a playful gallop around large pasture.  Only Red, our 2005 Paint colt, has changed ... now three, he is growing up into the beautiful and healthy horse he was always meant to be!  Our lovely mare Empress, and much loved Buster Brown display a few more gray hairs on their soft muzzles.  And Beau has finally shed the last of his nearly white winter coat, once again Golden - to match his big heart!

 We're all looking forward to Summer this year and we have some fun things planned.  Plenty of Extended Lesson Days are available, and two special Beginners Horse Weeks are scheduled as well.  The workshop, "Horse Sense ~ The Basics" will also be offered later this summer.  And starting this fall, Saturday Horsemanship Clinics designed to improve the relationship between your horse and yourself will be offered.  Go to the Coming Events link at the right, or just click here for more information.

As we all enter this season of riding and playing with our horses it's important to be mindful of the heat and how it can effect ourselves and our horses.  So be sure you both drink plently of water!  Mornings and evenings are always a great time to ride when the temperature rises high.  And don't forget to use sunscreen for yourself, and fly spray and fly screens for your horses too.

And remember, whatever you do with horses, be safe and have fun!

New Horses !

It's always so exciting to bring a new equine companion into our lives!  And earlier this year, two of our friends had that opportunity.
