Regardless of what dicipline of riding you are interested in, or the type of horse that you have or want, there are basics that apply to all horses and horsemen. These Basics are what Nancy specializes in helping people to learn and understand.
Basics such as the nature of the horse, the way he percieves his world, and what motivates him. Also how to be safe around horses, basic and effective handling techniques on the ground and in the saddle.
Horsemanship with Nancy is great for you if you are new to horses, returning to horses or just love horses and want to deepen your understanding of them and effectiveness with them.
Sessions are delivered in a calm and unhurried atmosphere. Sessions are individualized to meet your needs and goals. Expect a strong emphasis on safety, as well as the dignity of and respect for the Horse.
Educational Experience with Horses and Horsemanship
With the ultimate goal of helping Horses and their People, Nancy completed an educational plan that included both 'Clinical' hands-on experiences as well as 'Academic' courses.
Choosing to learn with some of the top Horsemen and Clinicians of today, Nancy completed an Apprenticeship with Charles Wilhelm of CWTraining in Castro Valley, Ca. She then completed the "Freedom Course" offered by Dennis Reis, founder of The School of Universal Horsemanship, in Penngrove, Ca.
Instructor of both Western and English (CHA Certified 2002-2008)
"Horse Management Practices", a course at UC Davis, also offered a valuable learning experience.
Through New Horizons Equine Education Center, Nancy completed the following academic courses:
Horse Science Series "AQH 101-110", endorsed by the American Quarter Horse Assoc.
"Equine Science Instructor"
"Understanding Equine Behavior" a Horse Psychology course
"What Every Horse Should Know" a Training course
Nancy continues to learn and expand her knowledge of Horses and Horsemanship. She attends clinics whenever possible, and enjoys learning from other Horsemen. And as every good Horseperson knows, the best teacher by far is the horse himself!
